A transparent foundation for future installed-cost evidence, with no fabricated submissions or averages.

Evidence & review transparency

What informs this guide

This guide has no linked source list. Treat its planning framework as editorial guidance and confirm technical details with current official documents and qualified local professionals.

Real homeowner quote database coming as verified submissions are collected.

There are currently zero verified homeowner submissions in this database. We do not publish synthetic quotes as real projects, infer local averages from equipment prices, or turn an unverified total into an installed-cost benchmark.

What a useful submission needs

Future records will capture metro or partial ZIP, state, quote date, exact generator and fuel, ATS, service size, gas-run length, trenching, pad, load management, permits, utility work, electrical upgrades, accessories and project total. Verification status and missing scope must remain visible alongside any future statistics.

Collection is not open yet

No quote-upload form is active. Before collection opens, the service needs authenticated administration, private document storage, malware and file-type checks, rate limits, server-side schema validation, consent records, redaction, a retention policy and a correction/deletion process. Names, addresses, account numbers and original documents must not appear in public records.

The three-quote tool is available now. It saves only when requested, in your own browser; it does not submit a quote to this project.

Privacy-safe pilot preparation you can use now

We now publish a blank quote-comparison research template (CSV) for homeowners who wish to organize their own proposals. It includes no submissions, survey responses, amounts, sample statistics or original documents. Download and keep it on your device; there is no upload or collection endpoint.

Only enter general, non-identifying scope notes if you create a local copy. Do not record names, address, full ZIP, account numbers, signatures or original document text. Do not email the completed CSV or private proposal documents to this project. Collection will open only after consent, secure storage, retention and deletion processes are independently checked.

How future comparisons should work

Only verified, consented, redacted records should enter a published analysis. Report sample size, date range, geography, configuration mix and missing scope. Separate quotes from completed invoices and changes after installation. Small or biased samples cannot establish a universal fair price.

What verification will mean

  1. Review an original, dated proposal or completed invoice, exact equipment and fuel, totals and scope. A quote is an offer; an invoice documents a billed project, not necessarily payment or satisfactory performance.
  2. Confirm permission for anonymous publication and flag missing lines. Unknown costs stay unknown; bundled prices are not split into invented estimates.
  3. Redact names, full addresses, contact details, signatures, account numbers, serial numbers, payment information, document metadata and identifying free text.
  4. Check a private document fingerprint and project linkage. Multiple bids and revisions for one home must not become independent households. Quote/invoice pairs remain linked internally and separate in analysis.
  5. Record the reviewer decision, verification date, redaction status, retention deadline and corrections history. Verification checks the document; it does not certify the contractor or price fairness.

What we will never publish

Original documents, contact details, full ZIP codes, precise locations and private document fingerprints will not be included in public data. Even a three-digit ZIP or metro will be suppressed where a small group could identify a household. The public dataset must be a separately reviewed allowlist export, never a copy of intake records.

Publication rules before the first chart

Our initial editorial suppression floor is 20 independent verified projects per published cohort. This is a privacy and stability rule, not statistical proof. Below it, results stay suppressed. Above it, editors must still review selection bias, geographic concentration, missing scope and equipment mix.

Future tables must show sample size, median, first and third quartiles, range, period, fuel, state or metro, generator sizes and exact-configuration mix. Quotes and invoices will never be pooled. No national average is established. A convenience sample cannot represent all US homeowners, regardless of its size.

How this connects to original research

Read the study publication framework. Collection remains closed until secure storage, document handling, consent, retention and deletion controls have been implemented and reviewed. Browser-local planning is separate and will never silently enroll a homeowner in research.

Planning estimates disclaimer

These are planning estimates. Always check appliance nameplate for exact values. Hire a licensed electrician for final sizing.
